When to use hospital stay in Korean

When to use it

입원 means staying in a hospital because you are sick or hurt. You use it when someone needs care in the hospital for one or more days, not just a short visit. For example, you can say someone was admitted to the hospital or is in the hospital now (입원).

Example sentences

1. 아버지는 어제 병원에 입원했어요.

   My father was admitted to the hospital yesterday.

2. 저는 다음 주에 입원해요.

   I will stay in the hospital next week.

3. 친구가 많이 아파서 입원했어요.

   My friend was hospitalized because he was very sick.

4. 선생님은 지금 입원 중이에요.

   The teacher is in the hospital now.

5. 엄마와 저는 입원한 할머니를 보러 갔어요.

   Mom and I went to see my grandmother in the hospital.

6. 여행 전에 동생이 갑자기 입원했어요.

   Before the trip, my younger sibling suddenly had to stay in the hospital.
