When to use escape in Korean

When to use it

Escape means to get away quickly from a person, place, or danger. In Korean, 도망 is often used when a person or animal runs away, or when someone tries to avoid trouble. You will often hear it in simple situations like a pet escaping, a child running off, or a thief running away.

1. 우리 고양이가 집에서 도망갔어요.

   Our cat ran away from home.

2. 쉬는 시간에 저는 교실 밖으로 도망갔어요.

   During break, I ran out of the classroom.

3. 비가 갑자기 와서 사람들은 공원에서 도망갔어요.

   It suddenly rained, so people ran away from the park.

4. 그는 경찰을 보고 빨리 도망갔어요.

   He saw the police and ran away quickly.

5. 가게에서 돈을 안 내고 도망가면 안 돼요.

   You must not run away from a store without paying.

6. 기차역에서 아이가 엄마 손을 놓고 도망갔어요.

   At the train station, the child let go of Mom's hand and ran off.
